A floating tank roof of a 0.5 million barrel crude oil storage tank at the Flotta Oil Terminal required to be refurbished as it was suffering from corrosion damage.
Application had to take place in variable weather conditions, including high humidity and rain, typically found in the north of Scotland. The client also required a coating system with no over-coating limitations due to the predicted start/stop of the project because of adverse weather conditions.
A combination of high pressure water jetting and grit blasting were utilized to remove redundant coating. Two coats of wet & rust tolerant Epo-chem™ RL 500PF was then applied.
The wet and rust tolerant properties of Epo-chem™ RL 500PF allowed the coating application to be successfully undertaken in adverse weather conditions. As a direct result, the project was completed in a much shorter time-frame than would have been possible utilizing conventional coating systems.
• Can be applied in any environmental conditions
• No humidity or dew point restrictions
• Exceptional wet and rust tolerant properties
• No over-coating limitations
• Significantly reduced downtime
• Substantial cost savings achieved
• Long-term guarantee
